Alrighty, I recieved in the mail the other day my new halo b/reloader b shells from hybrid paintball. My first thought is that these things will rock. What you ask is so different about them? Why would you want these over the ones your currently using or any of the myriad of new shells you ask? Well i'm glad you asked.
The shell is referred to as the suicide shell... Instead of splitting in half like all other shells for these hoppers three simple screws on the top of the load will allow the top half to slide free and permit easy cleaning of the paint holding area and the drive cone. I believe this will thankfully cut down on the time spent cleaning these things, as I no longer have to remove all the extra screws... nor deal with losing the lid or lid spring anymore.
For something so simple it certainly was a long time in coming. The shells seem as tough as my old ones... so I expect they will wear out in time, but that's normal. The lid seems to be a little more securely attached then on the normal split shells and I take that to be a plus. All of my internals went into the new shell easily and fit snugly just like I would expect. The pictures included should give you an idea of what I'm talking about.
The other nice thing about these shells is the loss of the gem area on the sides.... I don't know about you guys but those things were way to easy to lose and just left the shells looking incomplete before.... but not anymore.
I would have liked to see a retention method for the screws once they were undone, but alas, that was not included, doesn't mean I'm not working on one, but for now, I just have to keep an eye on three screws if I manage to smash a bunch of balls or have one blow up in my hopper.
